Terms of Service

Last updated: October 2026

The short version

Buyancy is an educational cash-flow modeling tool, not a financial advisor. It helps you think through "can I afford this" questions using your own real balances and spending patterns — it doesn't manage your money, place trades, or make binding recommendations. By using Buyancy, you agree to the terms below.

Not financial advice

Buyancy is not a certified financial planner, investment advisor, broker-dealer, or fiduciary, and nothing in the app constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The YES / WAIT / HOLD verdicts, projections, and narrative explanations Buyancy produces are educational estimates based on a deterministic model of your connected account data — they are not guarantees, and Buyancy is not responsible for financial decisions you make based on them.

You should consult a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions. Buyancy is a tool to help you think, not a substitute for that judgment.

What Buyancy does

Buyancy connects to your bank accounts (read-only, via Plaid or Wealthica) or runs in demo mode with synthetic data, and projects your near-term cash flow using a deterministic day-by-day simulation — not a guess by an AI model. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what data we collect and how it's used.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use Buyancy. You're responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for any activity that happens under your account.

If you invite a partner to a shared household, you're responsible for what you choose to share with them inside the app.

Your vault, passphrase and recovery key

What you save in Buyancy is sealed to a key that only you hold, protected by a passphrase you choose and a recovery key we show you once. You're responsible for keeping both safe. We can't reset them or open your data for you: if you lose your passphrase and your recovery key, what you saved in Buyancy can't be recovered and you will need to start again. Your bank data is fetched again when you reconnect.

See our Privacy Policy for what we can and can't read, including that our servers read your data in memory while they work on a request.

Beta status and no warranty

Buyancy is an early-stage product, currently in private beta. It's provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Features, verdicts, and availability may change or break as we iterate — we'll do our best to keep your data intact and your account working, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service during this stage.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Buyancy and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including financial decisions made in reliance on a verdict, projection, or narrative it produces.

Termination

You can stop using Buyancy and delete your account at any time from your account settings (avatar menu → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe these terms have been violated, or if needed to protect the security or integrity of the service.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
